Rock climbing on Hvar
So many rock climbers realized the potential of Hvar climbing areas and some of them made first bolted rock climbing areas in 2002 and 2003. For now there are few climbing areas (Hvar, Stracine, Milna, Vela Stiniva and Sveta Nedjelja). The potential for new routes is huge, and many crags are still waiting the first route. NGO «Stina» gave us a very good example in Vela Stiniva how routes need to look like. They started with bolting in that area and they made more than 50 routes. Most of the routes were made by well known Slovenian climber and route maker Vili Gucek, who also made and climbed first 8a on island Hvar. Idea of NGO «Stina» was to make rules or we can say to copy rules like on island Kalymnos (Greece) so that in the future we have safe and very good routes all over the island. Multi-pitch routes are possible on some areas in the traditional way of climbing.
Rock climbing on Hvar island is under your own responsibility.
